HOW TO THRIVE

HOW TO THRIVE

There’s no substitution for graft and I often talk about this in my series ‘A Life Of Passion’ with my superstar guests.

But I wanted to offer some more insight, the practical steps you can take to move yourself ahead in this game and thrive!

Whether you choose to apply this advice to a meaningful career in hair, your own business or within your personal life, the principles are all the same.

THE STANDARD IS EXCELLENCE

First and foremost, excellence is absolutely the standard! It’s so important to pay attention to detail, giving 100% of your focus to the task at hand — of course we all have to start somewhere and probably won’t be very good to begin with, but it’s essential that we’re constantly striving to improve.

Your ability and skill is THE foundation of everything.

For solid tips and education to improve your skills and ultimately confidence in hair check out Chris Appleton and Sophia Hilton, who are both killing it in this space!

CONNECT WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE

‘It’s about who you know and who you hang out with’ rings very true!

People are a huge part of our success, so what are you doing to connect with others in your field? (That’s deeper that a connection on Instagram & LinkedIn)… How do you get involved and add value to your community? What kind of people do you spend time with? — Are they builders? And do they share the same ambitious spirit?

In my career, it was the people that I worked with inspiring and driving me forward; I was always surrounded by someone I could learn from.

And if you don’t have your team yet, don’t fret! It’s never too late to network and find them!

For those in hair specifically, you can attend industry events by organisations like Salon International and Creative Head Magazine.

MENTORS. MENTORS. MENTORS

I am a HUGE advocate for finding and sticking to mentors like glue!

Just their experience alone offers you a huge advantage, so seek out a mentor that’s done what your aspiring to do.

Watch them, listen to them, ask lots of questions (if you can) and mimic them! Show your dedication and most importantly, ask for critique (what can you do better tomorrow) — be open and willing to grow.

IT’S GOOD TO KNOW EVERYTHING

Finally, there’s a huge benefit in being a ‘know it all’ from immersing yourself in the industry!

You can start by simply doing your own research online, or following the right people on socials and staying up to date.

Watch shows specific to hair artistry and the industry, read articles, join a community, speak to others and most importantly, tune in to Lee Stafford World.

We’re completely dedicated to elevating the next generation in hair and offering all of the tools needed to succeed!

I’ll share more ‘HOW TO THRIVE’ advice, tips and tools in the coming weeks over on leestafford.world
